Zack Greinke will throw a bullpen session on Friday. Assuming all goes well, the right-hander will be on track to start on Monday in San Francisco against the Giants, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. He would also make one more start before the end of the regular season, at home against the Padres.
Greinke has missed what would have amounted to two starts due to a sore calf. He remains the favorite for the National League Cy Young Award, though Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta has closed some serious distance. Greinke leads the majors with a 1.65 ERA, an .857 winning percentage (18-3), and a 0.848 WHIP. He also has a sterling 185/36 K/BB ratio over 207 2/3 innings.
