Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles have designated outfielder Travis Snider for assignment and recalled Junior Lake from Triple-A Norfolk.
Snider, 27, wasn’t finding much success at the plate, batting .237/.318/.341 with three home runs and 20 RBI. The once top prospect is now a veteran of eight seasons but has struggled to consistently hit at the major league level.
Lake, 25, was acquired from the Cubs in the Tommy Hunter trade at the deadline. He hit .333 in 16 plate appearances at Norfolk. He has a career .663 OPS across 642 career major league plate appearances.
