MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy reports that the Brewers are “poised” to sign reliever Jaye Chapman to a minor league deal. The Brewers haven’t announced anything yet.
Chapman, 27, was drafted by the Braves in the 16th round of the 2005 draft. He spent the 2013 season in the Cubs’ farm system and played with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League this past season. Over 53 2/3 innings, he posted a 3.86 ERA with a 58/24 K/BB ratio.
As McCalvy notes, Chapman makes for an interesting comeback candidate.
