MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins have activated outfielder Christian Yelich from the 15-day disabled list. To clear room for him on the roster, Reid Brignac was designated for assignment.
Yelich had been on the disabled list since April 20 due to a herniated disc in his back. He compiled a meager .200/.265/.222 triple-slash line with only one extra-base hit (a double) and four RBI in his first 49 plate appearances to begin the season.
Brignac batted .077 in 17 plate appearances, serving mostly as a bench bat for the Marlins.
