Video: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hits first major league homer

It took 54 plate appearances, but Blue Jays prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finally has his first major league home run under his belt. There should be plenty more where that came from.

With one out in the top of the first inning on Tuesday evening in San Francisco, Guerrero worked a full count against Nick Vincent before drilling a 90 MPH fastball out to center field to give the Jays an early 1-0 lead. Statcast measured the blast at 438 feet, 111 MPH off the bat.

Entering Tuesday’s action, Guerrero was hitting a lackluster .191/.283/.234. Perhaps with the stress of hitting his first homer gone, he’s due for a hot streak.
