The Yankees announced that infielder Ronald Torreyes has been traded to the Cubs in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Torreyes was designated for assignment on Monday when the Yankees claimed pitcher Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Angels.

Torreyes, 26, owns a career .281/.310/.375 batting line across 615 plate appearances in four seasons in the majors. He has played second base primarily but has also logged significant time at third base and shortstop as well, so he will provide versatility for the Cubs.
