Fancred’s Jon Heyman reports that the Orioles have parted ways with GM Dan Duquette. That comes as no surprise after the Orioles set a franchise record with 115 losses this season. The O’s also parted ways with manager Buck Showalter today as the club commits to sweeping change.

Duquette, 60, took over as GM of the Orioles in November 2011. The club went 566-568 (.499) under Duquette, reaching the postseason three times, including the ALCS once in 2014.

The Orioles traded away franchise icon Manny Machado earlier this season and, while the club does have some interesting young players, it will almost certainly have to go into a deep rebuilding operation. The Orioles’ minor league system ranks in the bottom-third of baseball according to many in the know. We shall see what the next Orioles front office does with the franchise.
