The other day the Indians made a big trade for a former MVP. Today the Indians put that former MVP on the disabled list, where he’s been basically all season long.
Josh Donaldson is on the DL with the same left calf strain that had sidelined him since the end of May with the Blue Jays. The good news is that it’s not like he re-injured himself or aggravated his old injury. He’s basically the same as he was before the trade. It’s just that, after a brief workout, he and the Tribe decided that he’s not quite ready to go. He’s playing today with Triple-A Columbus and, hopefully, will be back after the minimum ten days on the shelf.
Donaldson has been limited to 36 games in 2018, batting .234 (32-for-137) with 11 doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI for the Blue Jays.
