Cubs prospect Oscar De La Cruz slapped with PED suspension

Major League Baseball announced this afternoon that pitcher Oscar De La Cruz of the Chicago Cubs organization has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Furosemide, a Diuretic and Masking Agent, in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

De La Cruz, 23, currently with Double-A Tennessee, is considered one of the Cubs better prospects. He’s been struggling thus far this year, however, posting a 5.24 ERA in 16 starts.
