Major League Baseball announced this afternoon that pitcher Oscar De La Cruz of the Chicago Cubs organization has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Furosemide, a Diuretic and Masking Agent, in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

De La Cruz, 23, currently with Double-A Tennessee, is considered one of the Cubs better prospects. He’s been struggling thus far this year, however, posting a 5.24 ERA in 16 starts.
