The Giants announced on Thursday that starter Johnny Cueto has been activated from the 60-day disabled list. To make roster space, the club optioned infielder Kelby Tomlinson to Triple-A Sacramento. Cueto will start Thursday night’s game against the Cardinals opposite Luke Weaver.

Cueto, 32, has been out since late April due to a sprained right elbow. The right-hander was off to a tremendous start before the injury, going 3-0 with an 0.84 ERA and a 26/6 K/BB ratio in 32 innings across five starts.

The Giants enter play Thursday 45-43 in third place in the NL West. They’re looking to snap a three-game losing streak during which they scored only three total runs.
