Yesterday was Canada Day, which is a pretty major holiday up north. It used to be called “Dominion Day” but they changed that a few decades back. In honor of Canadian James Paxton‘s performance, they should call it “Domination Day.”
Paxton shut out the Royals over eight innings, striking out 11. He scattered just two hits and two walks, throwing 79 of his 110 pitches for strikes. He’s now 8-2 on the season with a 3.39 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 145/32 K/BB ratio over 111.2 innings. He gets the Rockies at home on Saturday, and it’s not a bad thing at all to face the Rockies when they’re traveling, so look for some more celebration, Seattle fans, even if it’s not a holiday.
