Yankees get their wish, will no longer be on Sunday Night Baseball on July 8

Yesterday, we learned that the Yankees were upset with ESPN for selecting their game with the Blue Jays on July 8 for Sunday Night Baseball. That, along with a doubleheader against the Orioles the following day, would have meant the club would have had to play three games in the span of about 24 hours. Their complaint certainly had merit.

As a means of protest, the Yankees were threatening to avoid interviews with ESPN staff before, during, and after the game.

The Yankees got their wish, as their game against the Jays on July 8 has been moved back to a 1 PM ET start time and will no longer be featured on Sunday Night Baseball, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reports.

The Angels-Dodgers game will be featured on Sunday Night Baseball instead, Marchand adds. Good on ESPN for doing the right thing and here’s hoping they take a look at schedules before making their programming decisions.
