Yesterday David Price was scratched from tonight’s start in the Red Sox-Yankees series due to numbness in his fingers. Today Alex Cora told the press that Price has been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome.

The good news: it’s a mild case and he might avoid the disabled list. For what it’s worth, I got a wicked carpal tunnel flareup last year — I write a lot — and while it was awful in the moment, it went away almost as immediately as it arrived and hasn’t returned. I’m sure I’ll pay for it down the road, but it’s the kind of thing one can deal with.

Price has a 5.11 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 32/16 K/BB ratio in 37 innings over seven starts this season.
