The Blue Jays announced on Wednesday that the club acquired infielder Giovanny Urshela from the Indians exchange for cash considerations or a player to be named later.

The Indians activated Urshela from the 10-day disabled list and then designated him for assignment on Friday. He hasn’t played in the majors this year, but did appear in 11 games for Triple-A Columbus. He hit .324/.405/.532 in 42 plate appearances.

Urshela’s major league numbers aren’t quite as impressive, owning a .587 OPS in 453 PA, but he can play all four infield positions. He’ll provide depth at Triple-A for the Jays.
