Marlins manager Don Mattingly said on Tuesday that rookie shortstop J.T. Riddle will miss the rest of the season due to left biceps tendinitis, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports. Riddle may need to undergo surgery as well.
Riddle, 25, has been out since July 22 with the injury. He ends his first season in the majors batting .250/.282/.355 with 17 extra-base hits, 31 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 247 plate appearances.
Miguel Rojas, carrying a .720 OPS in 111 PA, will handle shortstop for the rest of the season.
