Free agent reliever Greg Holland will hold a showcase on Monday for interested teams, WEEI’s Rob Bradford reports. The Red Sox, Giants, and Royals are among the teams that reportedly have interest in the right-hander.
Holland, 30, missed the 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery 13 months ago. His agent, Scott Boras, said he has thrown off of a mound three or four times with velocity in the low 90’s, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Holland was once the Royals’ lights-out closer before the elbow problems. Over parts of six seasons in the majors, he has a 2.42 ERA, 145 saves, and a 430/125 K/BB ratio in 319 2/3 innings. Despite the surgery, Holland should get a good deal of interest.
