Video: even Bill Murray was at a loss for words. Almost.

Bill Murray has been the Cubs’ most high profile celebrity fan for years now, and this postseason he has taken center stage. Last night after the Cubs won the World Series, he came off of his comic persona, at least a little bit.

The wisecracks eventually started flowing, but when the reporters first got to him during the postgame celebration, he was just as happy and, for him anyway, as speechless as any other Cubs fan, trying to take in the history he just experienced. When asked if he ever thought he’d see this day, he said, “of course I thought this was going to happen,” even if you get the sense that maybe somewhere in that 66-year-old head of his he was still trying to convince himself it did.
