Noah Syndergaard scratched due to strep throat

The Mets are already down two three starting pitchers this year, with Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey and Steven Matz watching from the sideline. Let’s throw in one more: Noah Syndergaard has been scratched from his Saturday start due to strep throat.

Unlike his teammates, this shouldn’t be a season-ended for him, but it does mess up the current schedule which has him lined up to pitch in the Wild Card game a week from Wednesday. He still could line up for that if things get flopped around some, but Terry Collins is doing some serious flopping at the moment.

The Mets are a half game up in the Wild Card race, tied with the Giants, a half game ahead of the Cards.
