The White Sox and 1,100 dogs set a World Record Last Night

The Chicago White Sox had one of those “Bark at the Park” promotions last night, in which fans who are foolish and misguided enough to own dogs rather than cats can bring their pets to the ballpark. Good for the dogs, though. I’m glad they got outside to play. They should be able to have as much fun as they can. Though far from the ideal pet, dogs are cute and loyal and sweet. It’s not their fault they’re not cats.

Anyway, so many dogs showed up — 1,122 — that the White Sox made the Guinness Book of World Records:

Note the wording: “attending” a sporting event. The record for most dogs participating in a sporting event remains in the possession of the 1993 New York Mets.
