With the minor league season over, the Rangers will call up INF/OF Joey Gallo from Triple-A Round Rock, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. Gallo will be joined by Tanner Scheppers and Jared Hoying as well.
Gallo, 22, remains the Rangers’ top prospect according to MLB Pipeline. This season, with Round Rock, he hit .240/.367/.529 with 25 home runs and 66 RBI in 433 plate appearances. He only appeared in six games at the big league level this season.
Though Gallo’s power is formidable, the Rangers aren’t likely to play him regularly until they seal up the AL West.
