Red Sox place Andrew Benintendi on the disabled list with a sprained knee

This is one of those deals where you could’ve just read the headline and had the whole story, but the handbook says I have to put something in this space, so here we are. In other news, back-to-back posts with the names “Benintendi” and “Rzepczynski” is kind of fun.

OK, fine. The deal with Benintendi is that he sprained his knee while running the bases in last night’s win over the Rays. He had an MRI on the knee but the results are not yet known. Chris Young will see the bulk of Benintendi’s playing time in the outfield. Infielder Marco Hernandez was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill the roster spot.

Benintendi is hitting .324/.365/.485 with a homer and ten RBI in 21 games.
