Life in the independent leagues is tough. The pay is low, the crowds are small and the very fact that you’re playing indy ball means that you either couldn’t catch the eye of an affiliated club or else you washed out of affiliated baseball altogether.
On the upside, you get great parking. Right next to the ballpark!
That dinger was off the bat of and into the windshield of Brandon Thomas, who plays for the for the Gateway Grizzlies of the independent Frontier League. He was struggling in the Yankees system until this year. Now he’s got an .802 OPS and 11 homers in 85 games for the Grizzlies. That’s not too shabby, and maybe at age 25 he still has a chance to get back to affiliated ball.
In the meantime, though, he’s gotta call Safelite.
