Angels DH Albert Pujols helped his team avoid a shutout on Saturday night against the Yankees with a ninth-inning solo home run off of Dellin Betances. The Angels would still go on to lose 5-1, however.

Pujols, 36, entered play Sunday batting .249/.315/.429 with 23 home runs and 96 RBI in 514 plate appearances this season.
The blast was the 583rd of Pujols’ career, moving him into a tie with Mark McGwire for 10th on baseball’s all-time home run leaderboard. He’s three home runs shy of tying Frank Robinson for ninth, but will have to wait until next season to tie Sammy Sosa (609).
While Pujols will pass McGwire in home runs, he was not part of a plot in an episode of The Simpsons, so he’ll have to check that off the list before he retires.
