Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported on Thursday that the White Sox are looking for a center fielder. Austin Jackson underwent surgery last month to repair a medial meniscus tear in his right knee last month and the club isn’t sure he’ll be healthy enough in time to help the team battle for entry into the playoffs.

As MLB Trade Rumors notes, Charlie Blackmon and Peter Bourjos are two outfielders capable of playing center field who are likely to be made available via trade by the August 1 non-waiver trade deadline.

In Jackson’s absence, J.B. Shuck has gotten most of the playing time in center field with Adam Eaton occasionally moving from right to center.

The White Sox ended the first half 45-43, seven games behind the first-place Indians in the AL Central.
