Tyler Flowers to miss four to six weeks with a broken left hand

Braves catcher Tyler Flowers has a fractured left hand and will miss the next four to six weeks, per Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball. The Braves are likely to promote catcher Anthony Recker from Triple-A Gwinnett after the All-Star break to back up A.J. Pierzynski, per MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.

Flowers suffered the injury on Saturday. Splitting time behind the plate with Pierzynski, Flowers has hit a productive .253/.343/.425 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 198 plate appearances.

With Gwinnett, Recker has hit .243/.325/.419 with six home runs and 18 RBI in 154 plate appearances.
