The Twins’ Dustin Morse announced on Twitter that the club released reliever Kevin Jepsen on Monday, making him a free agent. Jepsen was designated for assignment last week and passed through waivers unclaimed.

Jepsen, 31, struggled to a 6.16 ERA with a 22/12 K/BB ratio in 30 2/3 innings with the Twins this season. He was solid out of the bullpen the last two seasons with the Angels, Rays, and Twins, but he’s gotten progressively worse at missing bats.

The Twins are on the hook for the remainder of Jepsen’s $5.3125 million salary, less the prorated major league minimum if another team signs him.
