The Red Sox are moving Clay Buchholz back to the bullpen, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Buchholz was moved back to the bullpen last month but struggled in three starts since. He has given up 14 runs (10 earned) on 18 hits and seven walks with nine strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings. The right-hander’s ERA on the season is a disappointing 5.91.

Buchholz, 31, can become a free agent after the season assuming the Red Sox decline his $13.5 million club option by paying him a $500,000 buyout. He was considered one of the bigger names in what will be an underwhelming free agent class this offseason, but his stock has fallen precipitously.
