The Athletics have claimed pitcher Nick Tepesch off waivers from the Dodgers MLB.com’s Jane Lee reports. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the club designated Eric Surkamp for assignment.
Tepesch made a spot start for the Dodgers on Friday in a loss against the Pirates, serving up five runs on seven hits with no walks and three strikeouts over four innings. The Dodgers designated him for assignment on Saturday.
Tepesch, 27, has a career 4.68 ERA over 223 career innings in the majors. He’ll serve as rotation depth for the A’s.
