Last night, after the Tigers dispiriting loss to the Angels, manager Brad Ausmus suggested that Anibal Sanchez could lose his rotation spot.
The Tigers mounted a pretty good comeback before falling on a C.J. Cron walkoff home run. But the reason they needed to come back was because Sanchez gave up six runs on eight hits in three innings. Ausmus said afterward “We’re going to have to make an adjustment with Sanchy . . . Something’s gotta be done, because we need better starts than that.”
Sanchez has a 6.67 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 56 and two-thirds innings this season. The 2013 American League ERA champ has declined for three years running while battling injuries. Shane Greene, currently in Toledo, could be a possibility to replace him.
