The Mariners will receive cash from the Padres that will allow the Padres to keep outfielder Jabari Blash in their organization, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

The Athletics selected Blash from the Mariners in the Rule 5 draft in December, then sent him to the Padres to complete an earlier trade that involved Drew Pomeranz. The Padres designated Blash for assignment last Friday. Because Blash is a Rule 5 pick, the Padres had to offer him back to the Mariners.

Blash, 26, hit a disappointing .120/.241/.160 in 29 plate appearances for the Padres. Now he’ll report to Triple-A El Paso.
