The Blue Jays released outfielder Michael Bourn on Saturday, John Lott of VICE Sports reports. Bourn had signed a minor league deal with the Jays several weeks ago and reported to Single-A Dunedin.

In 41 plate appearances, Bourn hit .257/.366/.371 with a pair of doubles and a triple. The 33-year-old hasn’t been productive at the major league level since 2013, but it’s tough to imagine he’ll be unable to come up with another opportunity elsewhere that could put him back in the big leagues soon.

The Jays weren’t in need of outfield help as Ezequiel Carrera has been solid to date and Andy Burns is on the 25-man roster with the ability to play everywhere but pitcher and catcher.
