Good news for Mets fans: Jacob deGrom, who has missed time due to the birth of his son, his son’s subsequent medical complications and, to some extent, some lat soreness, will start for the Mets Sunday against Atlanta.
Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that deGrom hrew a 71-pitch simulated game at Port St. Lucie yesterday and that he felt fine afterward, clearing the way. Last week he had to cut a bullpen session short after experiencing some soreness. He also left his season debut early for the same reason.
Now, however, baby Jaxon deGrom is home with mom, deGrom himself can join his teammates in Atlanta for the weekend series and on Sunday he’ll take the hill once again.
