Ben Zobrist was a key member of the 2015 World Series champions. But he left the Royals via free agency in the offseason and now plays for the Cubs. The Royals got their World Series rings during their opening series against the Mets a couple of weeks ago. Zobrist, and players in his shoes, typically are sent their rings later. It happens.
Royals GM Dayton Moore, however, made a point to put a personal touch on the delivery of the ring to Zobrist. As in, he personally drove the ring four hours across Missouri to St. Louis where Zobrist and the Cubs are playing the Cardinals this week. The full story of that presentation can be read in the K.C. Star.
A very nice gesture from Moore and the Royals.
