Twins GM Terry Ryan told the media that the club will place third baseman Trevor Plouffe on the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday’s game, MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger reports. Plouffe aggravated his intercostal injury on Sunday and was held out of Monday’s lineup against the Brewers.

Plouffe, 29, was off to a good start, hitting .302/.333/.535 with two home runs and six RBI in 45 plate appearances to begin the season.

Eduardo Nunez is playing at third base in Plouffe’s absence on Monday night, but the Twins are expected to promote top prospect Jorge Polanco, per Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN.
