Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports that the Dodgers have agreed to a minor league contract with pitcher Sean Burnett. He has been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Burnett, 33, tossed 8 2/3 scoreless innings for the Nationals during spring training but still didn’t make the club’s Opening Day roster. The lefty hasn’t been a mainstay in the majors since 2012. He pitched 9 2/3 innings for the Angels in ’13 and only two-thirds of an inning in ’14 for the Angels as he underwent Tommy John surgery.
In 372 2/3 innings spanning parts of eight seasons in his career, Burnett has a 3.53 ERA and a 274/147 K/BB ratio.
