The Nationals are expected to put the naming rights for Nationals Park up for sale, as the Sports Business Journal reports that the club has partnered with executive search and advisory firm Korn Ferry and MLB Advanced Media. Nationals Park has been the Nationals’ home for nine years and is one of few sports venues where the naming rights haven’t been sold.

CSN Mid-Atlantic’s Chase Hughes expanded more on the topic, adding that the Nationals haven’t been actively trying to sell the naming rights until now. The organization was worth $1.28 billion last year according to Forbes, as the Washington Post reported.

This would likely not rank as the Nationals’ biggest financial decision within the next few years, as outfielder Bryce Harper — a Scott Boras client — could potentially hit free agency after the 2018 season. There is some speculation that he could command as much as or more than $500 million if he can maintain his 2015 levels of production, which resulted in an MVP award.
