Current Ray Jaff Decker robbed current Brave and former Ray Reid Brignac of a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning during Monday afternoon’s Grapefruit League action.

Brignac faced Tyler Sturdevant with runners on first and third and one out, and sent a fly ball to deep left field. Decker ranged back, timed his leap, and brought Brignac’s fly ball back, saving three runs. The ball otherwise would have cleared the fence by a couple of feet. A run did score on what turned out to be a sacrifice fly.

Decker, 26, is vying for a job on the Rays’ bench after being non-tendered by the Pirates in December. He has a career .557 OPS in 72 major league plate appearances. Decker was once considered a top prospect in the Padres’ minor league system, earning a #74 and #82 overall rating from Baseball Prospectus and Baseball America, respectively, prior to the 2010 season.
