Yoenis Cespedes is getting more and more exotic with how he uses his money. So far this spring, we’ve seen him in an assortment of fancy cars. Well, now he’s buying grand champion hogs. ESPN’s Adam Rubin reports that Cespedes paid $7,000 for a grand champion hog at the St. Lucie County Fair on Sunday.
Cespedes procured advice on which hog to buy. Once the transaction was made, he posed for pictures with the previous hog owner’s family and autographed a bat. As for the hog, who knows what the future holds. But in Cespedes’ legendary showcase video, he was taped roasting a pig. So.
St. Lucie is the Mets’ spring training locale and also home to their High-A minor league team, lest anyone think Cespedes was venturing too far away from baseball to do this.
Cespedes signed a three-year, $75 million contract with the Mets in January, so it’s unlikely he’s zeroed out his bank account yet, but there’s a lot of spring training left.
