The Yankees want peak effort, admirably respect mathematical concepts

Most athletes give their all. And, at least at this time of year, everyone says that everyone else is looking great and doing great. As time goes on, however, you hear stories about players who do and players who do not go about their business the right way, don’t prepare as well as they could and anger their teammates who don’t slack off.

The Yankees want to make it clear to their players from Day 1 of spring training that they expect peak effort. Indeed, they are putting it right on the door to the clubhouse:

My favorite thing about that sign is that it says “100%” and not “110%” or something. “110% effort” is impossible and the Yankees have no patience for empty cliches.
