Indians “continue to target” Juan Uribe to start at third base

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Indians “continue to target” free agent Juan Uribe with the intention of making him their starting third baseman.

Uribe is 37 years old, but he’s coming off a productive season and last week I ranked him as the 10th-best remaining free agent on the market. He’s posted a combined .761 OPS during the past three seasons, including hitting .253 with 14 homers and a .737 OPS in 119 games last year, and remains a plus defender at the hot corner.

Giovanny Urshela sits atop Cleveland’s third base depth chart currently, but the 24-year-old struggled as a rookie last season and could be asked to split time with Uribe.
