Last week, the Rockies signed outfielder Gerardo Parra to a three-year, $26 million contract. The problem was, and still is, that the Rockies already had three starting-caliber outfielders in Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Gonzalez, and Corey Dickerson.
The signing caught Blackmon off guard. Nick Groke of The Denver Post has the quotes:
It’s been no secret that the Rockies have been shopping all three of their outfielders. The club should be expected to trade one of the three by the time the regular season begins. The Orioles, Cardinals, White Sox, and Angels are among the teams to have shown interest in Gonzalez. The Tigers showed interest in Blackmon before signing Justin Upton, while the Cardinals reportedly have interest in both Blackmon and Dickerson.
