With Alex Gordon and Denard Span signed, the dominoes in the outfield market are finally beginning to fall. Gerardo Parra could be next, as MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reports that the Rockies are among teams “making a push” for him.
We first heard about the Rockies’ interest in Parra last week. The potential match is more interesting than it seems on the surface, as it would almost certainly set up a trade involving Carlos Gonzalez, Charlie Blackmon, or Corey Dickerson. Their availability presents an interesting wrinkle as big-name free agents like Chris Davis, Yoenis Cespedes, Justin Upton, and Dexter Fowler attempt to find a home.
Parra struggled after being traded from the Brewers to the Orioles last July, but he still finished with career-highs with 14 homers and a .780 OPS. He’s said to be looking for a multi-year contract.
