ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports the Tigers are close to signing reliever Mark Lowe to a two-year deal. He’ll serve as the set-up man ahead of closer Francisco Rodriguez, who was also acquired during this offseason.
Lowe, 32, had an outstanding 2015 season with the Mariners and Blue Jays. He compiled a 1.96 ERA with a 61/12 K/BB ratio over 55 innings. The Mariners dealt the veteran of 10 seasons to the Jays at the trade deadline at the end of July, acquiring Rob Rasmussen, Nick Wells, and Jake Brentz in return.
