Veteran right-hander Chris Young posted a surprising 3.06 ERA in 123 1/3 innings this summer for the Royals and he was excellent as both a starter and long reliever in what became a championship postseason run. Kansas City seemed like a perfect fit for the well-traveled 36-year-old, and it appears he is headed back there for 2016.
According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, “the perception among other teams is that it’s only a matter of timing before Chris Young works out a new deal with the Royals.”
He made just $675,000 from KC in 2015 and $1.25 million with the Mariners in 2014.
One big payday is deserved.
