James Wagner of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals have avoided arbitration with catcher Jose Lobaton by agreeing to a one-year, $1.3875 million contract for 2016.
Lobaton batted .199/.279/.294 in 155 plate appearances this past season for Washington while serving as the primary backup to starting catcher Wilson Ramos. 2015 was his second year of salary arbitration (as a Super Two qualifier) and he made $1.2 million.
He’s getting a nice little raise moving into his third arbitration season.
A fourth arbitration season is coming for Lobaton in 2017.
