Ike Davis non-tendered by the A’s

Oakland has non-tendered first baseman Ike Davis, moving on at the position by acquiring Yonder Alonso in a trade with the Padres this morning.

Davis hit just .229 with three homers and a .652 OPS in 74 games for the A’s and hasn’t posted an OPS above .725 or a slugging percentage above .400 since 2012 with the Mets.

He looked like a long-term building block for New York in 2010-2012, but at this point Davis may have to settle for a minor-league contract and prove himself again before getting another extended chance in the majors at age 29.
