In a do-or-die Game 5 of the World Series for the Mets, starter Matt Harvey has thus far tossed six scoreless innings against the Royals. He’s used 84 pitches, limiting the Royals to three hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.

The Royals had their only runner in scoring position in the first inning with two outs when Lorenzo Cain singled and stole second base, but Harvey struck out Eric Hosmer to escape. Harvey hasn’t had to throw many stressful pitches.

The Mets have provided Harvey with only one run of support, which came on Curtis Granderson‘s solo home run against Edinson Volquez to lead off the bottom of the first.
