The New York Times ran a 1908-style game story of NLCS Game 4

This is pretty fantastic.

The New York Times ran an NLCS Game-4 game story in their print edition in the style of turn-of-the-century newspapers. Old font, old story structure, black-and-white pictures and the whole deal. Read it all here, in newspaper, as opposed to web, form.

It’s both fun and, I must say, quite enjoyable. It harkens back to the day when a game story was basically a game novella. Made possible, in part, by the fact that the games ended at 2:30 in the afternoon, giving scribes all day and evening before deadline.

These days if you want long baseball writing, free from the tyranny of strict, low word counts you gotta go to the Internet.
