Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy did a little bit of everything on Saturday night in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Dodgers. He got the Mets on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, tying a Mets post-season record with his fourth home run.
Murphy then ended the game and prevented the tying run from reaching base when he dove to stop a Tommy La Stella laser, firing to first to seal the Mets’ Game 1 victory and the save for closer Jeurys Familia. There have already been a handful of outstanding plays during the playoffs this year, but this ranks at least in the top five.
