Rangers “part ways” with hitting coach Dave Magadan

Texas out-performed expectations as much as any team in baseball this season and a big part of that was the lineup ranking third among AL teams in runs scored.

Despite that, the Rangers and hitting coach Dave Magadan have “mutually agreed to part ways,” according to a press release. He served as Texas’ hitting coach for three seasons, joining the coaching staff in 2013 after filling the same role with the Red Sox.

In addition to Magadan’s departure, Rangers bullpen coach Andy Hawkins left the team “to pursue other opportunities.”
